I am always on the lookout for new and fun techniques to incorporate into my artwork, so I figure you are too-SO, this year, in my artsy posts, I will be highlighting my techniques in red, so they are easy to find. Since this is my first time trying something like this, I would like to know what you think, so comment below, please.
My projects are all about We R Memory Keepers 6x6 embossing folders-let me tell you-they are the bomb diggety! You know I am all about adding a bit of texture and dimension to my artistic creations and embossing folders are a fabulous way to do just that! To create this layout I used We R's beautiful Indian Summer collection (shipping June 1) and their fabulous 6x6 polka dot embossing folder (shipping April 1). To create this layout, I embossed 6x6 pieces of cardstock, then cut it into 2 inch squares, then cut those diagonally to create the triangles you see above. I cut the same size triangles from Wildflower patterned paper and adhered them to a base of Mountain Ridge textured cardstock. To create the flowers, I cut a variety of circles from the leftover embossed cardstock and notched the edges randomly, then added a smaller circle cut from Wildflower and Summer Meadow patterned paper and finished them off with a coordinating eyelet. The creative possibilities with embossing folders are endless-below you will see some of the fun ways I used them-I am looking forward to discovering even more fun and innovative ways to incorporate them into my cards, layouts, and all manner of projects!
To create this cute little gift set, I used the Inked Rose collection and the Polka dot 6x6 embossing folder. To get a deeper embossed effect, I wet the brown bag first then embossed it twice and set aside to dry.
For this darling card, I embossed a piece of Mint textured cardstock with the 6x6 polka dot embossing folder, cut to fit my card base and then, had fun creating this layered cuteness with a paper doily, a couple of banners cut from the Roses patterned paper, velvet ribbon from the Pink Sew Ribbon card, and a few word strips cut from a 12x12 sheet of Sentiments patterned paper.
I finished creating this darling gift bag, by clustering and layering some leftover emobssed cardstock, velvet ribbon, and a few banners I cut from coordinating patterned paper and topped it off with the Loving Life wood tag! Super cute!
To cover this little tin and matching tag, I used the 6x6 triangles embossing folder and Summer Meadow patterned paper from the Indian Summer collection.
For this darling embossed metal effect, I dug into my technique vault and brought back my aluminum tape technique! To create this yourself, cut 6 inch strips from aluminum tape found in the paint department of Walmart (there is a giant display of tapes of all varieties-masking tape, that blue painters tape and this aluminum tape) Anyway, I digress :) place three 6 inch strips into a 6x6 embossing folder and run thru. Once your tape is embossed, you can add color with alcohol ink, then peel off the backing and stick to whatever surface you choose-SUPER COOL, HUH???????
I had so much fun challenging myself to create with We R's fantastic embossing folders, I hope you do too!
As always, go out and make something cool today!
