I am one of the last stops of the Maya Road/Xyron blog swap week! What a blast it has been to see all of the creative genius on both the Xyron and Maya Road design team blogs! If you haven't already, be sure to check them out!
I adore chipboard! It is one of the most versatile products on the market! The world is your oyster as far as techniques and treatments go! I used lots of techniques on the project below-sounds way more complicated than it was-I promise! Maya Road's chipboard is fantastic! Loads of shapes and the perfect thickness for durability and embossability!
I took banner pieces from Maya Road's Love Banner pack and laid them out in Tim Holtz' Alterations embossing folder by Sizzix.
I was crafting with a friend who happened to have a Vagabond and so, I had to try it out-embossing was a breeze!
I just love adding texture to projects and embossing is a terrific way to do just that!
I wanted to replicate the look of the old folded wooden ruler from my dad's toolbox, so I painted a layer of antique gold acrylic paint to each piece.
Next I started the aging process by dabbing each piece with Wild Honey Distress Stain
Lastly, I painted each banner piece with a coat of Hay Ride Glimmer Glam to give them a bit of sheen and to seal them.
I cut a piece of Campground patterned paper from We R's Happy Camper collection to fit the frame base I had in my stash. I inked all the edges and lightly on the top of the paper (with brown Sweetheart inker) to add to the distress feel I was going for.
I ran the entire piece of paper thru my 900 Creative Station with permanent adhesive and adhered it to the front of the frame base.
With my Crop a dile I punched holes in each of the upper corners of each banner piece and strung them together with Latte Brown Maya Road twill cording
Xyron's High Tack Adhesive Dots, strong hold were the perfect thing to hold each banner piece to the frame base-below the photo window and the upper left corner. I added a few vintage metal buttons to the ends of the banners, held on with High Tack Adhesive Dots, of course!
