Bernard (Ben) Scott, most beloved family patriarch left the earthly embrace of his family on Thursday, February 02, 2012. He is survived by his “lovely bride” Eileen, and his pride and joy his sons, Eric (Stephanie) and Geoff (Ann), his grandchildren, Miranda , Jackie , Steven and Melanie, along with his brother Sidney, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Rebecca Saslawsky and his brother Mike Saslawsky.
Ben was a born story teller. His charismatic ability to tell a story was a source of pride for his family members. His stories, have indelibly blessed his family, friends and associates throughout his life.
After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, Ben returned to his cherished New York. There he met an enchanting British beauty who captured his heart, forever. Together they explored new frontiers during their 49 years together.
Ben was just as comfortable on the stage of his community theater, as he was in the stands of Mile High stadium cheering his much loved Denver Broncos. He was a diehard fan dating all the way back to the days of the Orange Crush!
Ben loved Oceanside-he served on the Senior Citizens advisory board, participated annually in the July 4th parade by escorting a member of the “chosen few” veterans in his red convertible, he enjoyed the street fairs, the beach and the local swimming pool. In each of these places and so many more, Ben had friends, he was always quick to greet you with a smile and strike up a conversation. On any given day, you could find he and Eileen strolling along the strand, visiting with old friends and making new ones.
He leaves a remarkable footprint on this earth, especially in the hearts of those who love him. We sorely mourn his passing; but we also celebrate his life, his accomplishments and his goodness. He is loved by many.
