i was writing to a friend and fellow hockey fan on facebook and started to think about all of the hockey teams i have enjoyed watching thru the years and it was pretty astounding! growing up in michigan hockey was everywhere. memories of watching countless cousins playing hockey, fill my memory. their ice ran the gamet-from frozen patches of ice on sugar island all the way to the big time-pullar staduim! so many long winter hours spent playing that bobbie orr table hockey game with my brother and sister, in high school we would watch all saints hockey team play on the rink that was a farmers market in the "off season" the location of so many dates in high school and college was the saginaw civic center-cheering on our saginaw gears, the aptly named ihl minor league team. the detriot redwings-legendary in michigan, were and are legendary to me too. while we lived in san fransisco, a new team was formed-tickets were cheap-i wanted to convert this football fan into a hockey fan-so we watched the san jose sharks make a place for themselves in the nhl. arizona brought the roadrunners, another minor league team-those games were so scrappy and fun to watch, then came the coyotes! but i must say, our favorite hockey player of all time is this boy-
what a weekend-saturday marked on of the most busy days we've had in a long time, a wedding, a quinceneara and a graduation party. insane-but so fun! the wedding was simply gorgeous, kris and don (bride's parents and our friends) rocked! i am sure they will be catching up on sleep and non wedding stuff for weeks! the quincenera was for miranda's friend victoria, she was absolutely lovely and equally silly at the same time, miranda danced a bit with some old friends and i got to visit with their mom's! a good time was had by all. the grad party was festive as all of my friend kris's party's are, but we arrived so late-kris and ruben were gracious, warm and engaging as they always are-no wonder i like them so much! it is hard to believe that molly is off to college in the fall-time flys WAY TO FAST!
sunday we had a day of "chillaxing" to use the vernacular of my darling nephew dwayne! we stayed in the pool pretty much all day, geoff made a fabulous set of ribs for dinner and my brother joined us-it was awesome! then we all watched the red wings whip on those sad little penguins! i guess they forgot they were in hockeytown! tonight we will be watching again! go wings!
